WHY SCELETIUM?
Explore how Kanna’s traditional roots are blending with scientific research to enhance mental health and cognitive functions.
WHY SCELETIUM
Sceletium tortuosum (sceletium) or more commonly known as Kanna, is a low growing succulent plant from the dry parts of South Africa.
The First people of Southern Africa used Kanna, by chewing, smoking, or inhaling as snuff, for its pleasant stimulating effects and medicinal, social and spiritual value. In the last 30 years Kanna has attracted scientific attention for its potential mood-lifting, anxiety-reducing and cognitive function enhancing abilities.
Some evidence exists for its use in the treatment of mild depression and anxiety although only one proprietary Sceletium extract has documented safety and efficacy data at present.
Mood Enhancement
Kanna is traditionally used for its mood-lifting properties, which can help alleviate feelings of stress
Anxiety Reduction
Recent studies have shown that Kanna may help reduce anxiety, making it a potential natural treatment option for managing mild anxiety disorders.
Cognitive Function Improvement
There is some evidence that Kanna can enhance cognitive functions, such as memory and focus, which can be beneficial in everyday tasks and mental challenges.
NATURAL OCCURENCE
Sceletium (otherwise known as kanna) is an adaptogen endemic to Southern Africa, and naturally occurs in the Eastern Cape, Northern Cape and Western Cape regions of South Africa
