ABOUT SABPA
Leading the sustainable growth of the Southern African botanical products industry by enabling and promoting access to global markets.
ABOUT US
SABPA was established as a Non-Profit Organization in 2023 and became a Non-Profit Company in 2025. We are fast becoming the representative Business Support Organization for Sceletium and other underserved indigenous plant species such as Pelargonium sidoides, Aloe ferox, Harpagophytum spp as well as having some members involved in Marula and Baobab. Besides market development and awareness raising activities, strategic partnerships, advocacy and research, we are playing a role in improving analytical methods and thus quality of botanical products, with an industry Code of Practice and Quality Seal in the pipeline. Another area of focus is Access and Benefit Sharing compliance for Access and Traditional Knowledge. We offer ABS services (support) for members and non-members who are looking to become compliant for a portfolio of indigenous plant species.
SABPA is eager to engage in reciprocal memberships with other Business Support organizations and associations in the SADC region, as well as to enter into partnership with US and international trade associations such as the United Natural Products Alliance and the American Herbal Products Association. SABPA is a Strategic Partner and Member of the Cape Chamber of Commerce.
