EASES JOINT PAIN
Harpagophytum procumbens and zeyeri (common name: Devil’s Claw) is a prostrate, trailing plant native to Southern Africa. During the rainy season, it grows stems of up to 1m long, spreading in all directions.
Harpagophytum species have many uses, including for loss of appetite, stomach upset, tendonitis, allergies, headache, and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Some 50 research studies suggest that Devil’s Claw could be used to treat people with degenerative joint diseases (like arthritis) and lower back pain.

NATURAL OCCURENCE
Devil’s Claw, also locally referred to as Kamaku, Omakakata and Otjihangatene, is widely distributed in Africa and can be found in Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Within South Africa this species occurs in the Northern Cape, North West, Free State, and Limpopo Provinces and the largest populations are found in the communally owned areas of the North West Province and the north eastern parts of the Northern Cape.
